I am intrigued by the "power" of images. I see how photographs , both personal and commercial, affect me on a subconscious level (observed by the subconscious self). I wonder how religious images have impacted humans. I have looked at Russian icon paintings, Islamic miniatures, and Buddhist thangka paintings for clues to aid me on my search. What I sense,at the very least, is remembering. In the precense of images, whether it is a deceased relative, an ad for Budweiser or a religious icon, one experiences memory on some level.
